    I’ve always been given the advice to avoid the traditionally controversial topics, like politics, sex and religion, but I’m seeing more people comfortable bringing up those topics professional settings such as LinkedIn. I hesitated to post this comment when I first saw the topic was around religion, and Islam in specific, but it turned out to be a very positive experience:

    Both muslims and non-muslims appreciated that I cared enough to share what I knew about Ramadan traditions, and it gave me some increased hope in the future of online discussions that don’t descend into flamewars.

    Are any of you seeing similar trends? I have a former coworker who is experimenting with the sort of content he posts:

    and he reports positive response and growing numbers of likes and followers. Maybe the personal and professional can blend more harmoniously than in the past?
